Mum’s Christmas Poem for 2022—The Promised One
The time had come when God would send
The Saviour promised long.
The Son of God would condescend,
Sinners, to dwell among.
The time was right for Him to come,
Of Whom the prophets’ word
So clearly spoke, that some
Were waiting, well prepared.
So Simeon rejoiced to see
The Babe to temple brought,
And Anna too most willingly
For others waiting, sought.
We too have a prophetic word,
Of glory yet to come.
We too God’s promises have heard,
Of His returning Son.
Are we prepared as those of old,
Our Saviour’s face to see?
Are we awaiting joys foretold,
When we with Him shall be?
When Jesus came of lowly birth,
Some welcomed Him with joy,
Whilst others never knew His worth,
E’en seeking to destroy.
Let us be those who with delight
Look up to see His day.
For when once more His time is right,
He will not long delay.
