How can we ever comprehend
How God the Son could condescend,
To leave His home of glorious light
To dwell in this world’s sinful night?
He came to lead a perfect life,
He came to conquer in the strife
‘Gainst much-feared death, evil and sin,
A battle He was strong to win.
He came His perfect life to give
As sacrifice, that man might live.
Sin’s penalty was paid by Him:
He bore our guilt, yet knew no sin.
God’s justice satisfied, He rose
Triumphant over all His foes.
Forgiveness He obtained for all
Who to repentance heed His call.
